The O2 Touch rugby sessions at Rawlins academy on a 3G pitch will be my rugby for the summer months. Whilst this is personally pretty good news for me it also serves as a great reminder of the need for sports to adapt to their markets and changing trends.
Clearly as I am 50 this year the reality is that I probably shouldn’t be playing 2nd team rugby on a regular basis, even if I feel fit enough to do so. vets rugby is pretty rare and a little sporadic but as I am still relatively fit & able to run around for an hour and love rugby the touch version is an ideal way to keep me engaged. I am the sort of market that sport needs to engage.
I will post regularly over the Summer on my experiences!
